B – A – G: your first song
Three notes, one hand, and a real tune: Hot Cross Buns.
Three notes, one hand
Your first three notes use only your left hand. Add one finger at a time and each note gets lower: B, then A, then G.
Keep your right hand resting on its pearls. It does not press anything yet.
Filled circle = press that key. Empty circle = leave it up. Numbers are fingers: 1 is your index finger.
Each circle on the chart is a key. A filled circle means press it. An empty circle means leave it up.
Warm up
One at a time
Play B for 4 counts, then A for 4, then G for 4. Use steady air and a soft “too.”
Switch cleanly
Change fingers without lifting your hand away. The air keeps flowing between notes.
Go back up
G, A, B. Notice how lifting fingers makes the pitch rise.
Hot Cross Buns
This is a real song you probably know. It uses just the notes you learned.
The black dots with a stem are quarter notes: one beat each. The hollow ones with a stem are half notes: two beats. The little flags mean eighth notes: half a beat, so they are quick.
Press play to hear it, or turn the tempo down and play along.
Slide the staff sideways on a small screen.
