Reading your first notes
Match notes on the staff to keys on the piano.
Notes on the staff
Right-hand notes are written in treble clef. Higher on the staff means higher on the keyboard.
Middle C sits just below the staff on its own little line, called a ledger line. Then D hangs below the bottom line, E sits on the bottom line, F in the first space, and G on the second line.
Staff and keys together
Look at the staff above and the keys here. Each note on the staff is one key.
Mary Had a Little Lamb
Your first real tune, using only C, D, E, and G. Play it with your right hand in C position. The note names are under each note.
Press play to hear it, or turn the tempo down and play along.
Slide the staff sideways on a small screen.
